Boom, great news coming from the North Shore this afternoon.  For as much credit as the Bucco’s get for being Pitcher Whisperers, the have done a terrific job twice now spinning former Yankee Catchers into NL elite guys.  It’s great to see they locked up the younger guy without breaking the bank.

Amongst catchers who have at least 100 at bats, Cervelli ranked third in on base percentage at .386 (second place Wilson Ramos is only .001 ahead of him).  The Pirates have been doing a great job getting guys on base and that kind of production from a largely defensive position is a major asset.

Side Note: Everything appears to be coming up Cervelli as a recent Reddit Post used a website developed by Zurich University that measures a person’s attractiveness.  Well don’t you know the Bucco Backstop happens to be scientifically “stunning.”
