Full disclosure, I was a complete 24 fan boy. I could crush any soul out there in trivia which is why I was so disheartened at yesterdays 24: Legacy Trailer.
24 paved way for Prison Break and for a short 2 years the 8-10:00 block Monday’s on Fox stands as one of the best two hour blocks of TV when Prison Break went back to back with 24.
Yesterday I was “meh” when I saw my favorite TV show’s new trailer. Today I’m balls to the walls excited for the return of a show which in my mind was always the bridesmaid and never the bride.
Don’t get me wrong, seasons one and two of Prison Break were epic. I loved that the writers took the time to develop a long arc well ahead of shows like Game of Thrones who had catalogs of source material to plant seeds in episode one and cash out 2 years later. Hell Prison Break invented killing off main characters and bringing them back later (you know nothing John Snow).
Yes it’s completely ridiculous the same guy now has to break out of his FOURTH prison but when you coming at me with so much nostalgia I have no choice but to allow it.
Perhaps I’ve been in denial all along.. I majored in engineering for a year because of this show, I tried (poorly) to learn oragami because of this show, could this have really been slotted at number one in the power rankings of my favorite TV shows?
Considering my dog is named Bauer probably not, but after these two reboots come to a close in 2017 I might have to bring the committee back to the table to reevaluate the rankings.
